Periodontal Treatment (Gum disease). A significant percentage of people older than 30 present some kind of "gum" disease. Initial dental therapy includes prophylaxis and deep scaling root planning "deep cleaning". Our certified dental hygienists provide these services under the supervision of the dentist. If the patient requires further treatment, a consult with the periodontist (gum specialist) and subsequent treatment will be recommended.

Root Canal Therapy. This treatment is designed to save teeth instead of extracting them. We do the majority of root canal therapies. However, if the anatomy of the tooth is complicated a referral to a root canal specialist is mandatory.

Restorations.
a. Fillings: Dental materials have improved significantly during the last years. Amalgams (silver fillings) are placed less than before because of much more demand of bondings (white fillings). We use proven dental materials in the fabrication of these restorations.
b. Onlays/Inlays: Preservation of tooth structure is a must when considering any kind of dental restoration. When the filling is too big onlays or inlays are recommended. We use different types of materials when we fabricated them. From gold (best metal) to porcelain (highly cosmetical).
c. Crowns (caps): When the tooth can no longer be fixed with restorations mentioned above, crowns are indicated. Crown gives full coverage to the tooth and is usually fabricated of metal or porcelain and the combination of both. Crowns are excellent procedures to improve the condition not only of the tooth but also the patient's smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry
a. Teeth Whitening (bleaching): Teeth whitening is an important role in dental treatment planning. There are two basic techniques: take-home and in-house bleaching. However, not everybody is a good candidate. Before we recommend that you whiten (bleach) your teeth, we will evaluate them and see if you are a good candidate and what kind of technique is the most appropriate for you.
b. Porcelain Veneers: Cosmetic dentistry has benefited significantly with the improvement of porcelain qualities. Porcelain veneers (laminates) have excellent translucent properties. This produces a life-like appearance improving smiles dramatically through the closing of spaces and through the "alignment " of teeth.
c. Bonding: White fillings are made of composite. Composite comes in different shades and in combination of bonding agents produce durable and highly cosmetic fillings. However, their cosmetic qualities do not match with porcelain
Cosmetic Dentistry is more than doing bleaching and/or fabricating porcelain veneers. It requires an understanding of the patient smile, patient expectations and a complete evaluation of the mouth.

Temporomandibular Disorders (TMJ)
TMJ can be cause by multiple factors. They include continuous grinding clenching, arthritis, tumors, etc. Grinding and clenching is mostly responsible for TMJ. Conservative treatment include exercises, soft diet, analgesics and the fabrication of a hard nightguard. A hard nightguard is an oral appliance that diminishes and/or prevent the unconscious habits of grinding and clenching.

Extractions
We perform simple extractions. Complicated extractions usually need minor surgeries and require the skills of an Oral Surgeon. We work with several Oral Surgeons located in different areas of Orlando.

Teeth replacement (dentures, bridges, removable partial, implants)
Permanent teeth replacement is the last phase in dental treatment planning and is directly influenced by the amount and type of teeth remaining. The fabrication of dentures is always a challenge for the dentist, especially if it is the first pair of dentures for the patient. When conventional dentures do not meet the expectations of the patient, implants are a must. However, implants can be also used for single and multiple teeth replacement. To place an implant(s) the patient must be a good candidate. Removable partial dentures (RPD) are an alternative when there are multiple missing teeth. Flexible materials such as valplast, flexite are available when the patient does not want to wear "metal" and want to improve the esthetics of the partial. Bridges replace teeth in a fixed way. This means that the patient does not remove the replaced teeth at any moment. Bridges made of complete porcelain are now available for selected case. The life-like appearances of these restorations are outstanding. Regardless of what kind of technique we use to replace teeth, oral hygiene is an important factor in maintaining the remaining teeth and the restoration.
